Why did you start Crossfit?
I had been bouncing around different gyms for about a year and just wasn’t enjoying any of them. I had known about CrossFit since 2009 and in hindsight, wish I had started back then. But I guess it takes what it takes.
What were your goals when you started Crossfit?
I think the only goal I had was to get in better shape. Looking back, I had pretty low expectations.
How has Crossfit differed from your former training?
I’ve stuck with it. I hadn’t “worked out” consistently since I was in the Navy and I only did that because I was forced. CrossFit is fun and there is a supportive community.
What type of results have you seen with Crossfit?
Within 3 months of starting CrossFit I quit smoking after 15 years. My strength, speed, endurance and body composition have all improved.
How would you describe your experience at Crossfit Hoboken? Joining CFH was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I’ve made friends, discovered a passion and watched myself grow. There is a community here for anyone who wishes to be a part of it.
Any advice for new members?
Everybody was new to CrossFit at one point. Stick with it and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
What would you like to accomplish in the next year in your own fitness?
Bodyweight snatch, 15 foot handstand walk, consistent butterfly pull-ups and be consistent with my diet. (I tend to let it go off the rails for long stretches of time)

Breakfast – Bacon, Banana and dry Crispix
Lunch – Rice, Protein, Veggies
Snack – Plantain Chips and Pickles
Dinner – Rice, Protein, Veggies
