Why did you start CrossFit?
I was itching to get back into working out after baby #2, and my husband suggested that I sign up for the trial class since the CrossFit gym was the next block over from my office.

What were your goals when you started CrossFit?
To get back into a regular exercise routine and be able to lift up my babies without struggling.

How has CrossFit differed from your former training?
I never did any sort of serious weight training before. I was your standard cardio-bunny, going on runs outside, with some light weight exercise. I’d always lose weight initially, but was never able to see real results.

What type of results have you seen with CrossFit?
This is the strongest I’ve ever been in my entire life—being able to lift or move things without constantly bothering my husband. I also have no problem carrying my 45-lb 4-year old anymore!

How would you describe your experience at CrossFit Hoboken?
Initially it was a little intimidating to see everyone lifting all these crazy weights, but over time you get into a routine and you start to see the same faces during classes.  Everyone is really nice and welcoming, and the coaches are super helpful and encouraging!

What advice would you give to new members?
Keep at it and don’t get discouraged. Everyone works at their own pace.

What would you like to accomplish in the next year in your own fitness?
To have a more regular workout routine. To become more confident in my lifts. To convince my husband to join CrossFit.

What does a typical day of food look like for you?
I tend to eat a lot of smaller meals throughout the day. I also try to eat a lot of vegetables, at least a few servings with every meal. I start off my day with lots of water in the morning, then I typically have steel cut oats and a protein smoothie for breakfast—for me, breakfast is my most important meal.  I usually eat less at dinner—it’s a mad sprint to get the kids to bed when I get home!
